Cone Collecting Loch Maree Islands
Photograph courtesy of Jim McIntyre
The transport to the Loch Maree Islands for the cone collecting team consisted of this 22 foot Kelvin launch.
Jim McIntyre says 'I was testing the engine which was temperamental even on a calm day. We were never actually marooned, but in the days prior to radio, mobile telephone communication and not to mention HASAW there were some 'exciting' moments crossing the loch'.
What happened to this launch afterwards? A launch called the ‘Sheena’ was apparently based at Ratagan Forest and then transported to Sunart Forest for use on Loch Shiel circa 1976.

There was remnants of a boat around that size at Polloch, pulled up and rotted to very little.
