Will’s photograph shows a Kockums GP822 processer at Devilla Forest under maintenance. The FC number is not readable but the number of the Escort Van is FC50228 and the truck number starts with FC54 possibly.

Will goes on to say ‘The photos include a GP822 which was working in Devilla in 1984 and we had another which was worked by a contractor (Davie Swan) in Glenlivet around 1990, as you say to deal with premature LP clearfells. Sadly, that one burned out on a site near Auchnarrow. I am sure I have a slide of the burnt out carcass somewhere, I will have to look it out for you. The measuring system used was often chains suspended from the boom and when the butt of the processed section reached the chain it was time to cut!
We have come a long way in the last 28 years from the GP822 to something like the John Deere 1470E.’

The PDF shows another view of the machine – does anyone remember working this particular Processor?

Note the diesel grab tank in the rear of the truck.

I think the operator of this machine could have been Donald Balfourd. Comment left on 23 September 2012 at 16:30 by James McDonald
