Kockums 84-35 forwarder Tentsmuir Forest

Kockums 84-35 forwarder Tentsmuir Forest

Date Added: 21 June 2012 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1985 Picture No: 1151

Photograph courtesy of Will Anderson who was a Trainee forester in North East Fife prior to going to Newton Rigg in 1986.

His photograph shows a large Kockums 84-35 forwarder working in clearfell at Tentsmuir Forest. Unfortunately the FC number cannot be read in the image. This machine is a larger version of the lighter 84-31 forwarder.

Can anyone identify the machine and any of its drivers?

Can't remember the FC no but the operator was Jock Smith. Comment left on 13 November 2012 at 20:31 by Graham Miller
Not sure about it, but if it is the same Jock Smith I was in the chainsaw squad with him and Jimmy Swan (also Graham ?). I can't remember his surname but I thought the forwarder operator was Roddy? Comment left on 05 April 2013 at 22:50 by Will Anderson
Yeah Roddy was the operator for a while Will, but he left and when I started with the FC, Jock was the operator. He then when on to operate a harvester and Jimmy Swan also become an operator. Roddy came back to the FC to operate a thinnings harvester in Aberfoyle until they done away with it. Can't remember Roddy's surname either. Comment left on 07 April 2013 at 18:08 by Graham Miller

Graham Paul was the other cutter. I went on this machine 1984, Jock drove it sometime after that before it was put to grass. Comment left on 25 August 2015 at 21:57 by Jimmy Swan
