Pole callipers

This is a set of James Jones eighteen inch callipers that Charlie used for many years in the past when he was cutting transmission poles for James Jones and Sons. There was a large range of sizes and classes with strict rules on straightness and specification. The grades of Light, Medium and Stout come to mind but other grades existed with their ranges of specific diameters and lengths.
The callipers was an essential tool to be carried when felling pine for poles as trees that did not make the diameter dimensions were rapidly turned into other but lower value products.
