Monaughty Forest work squad circa 1927

Mike Phillips, Newton, has passed on two cuttings of a picture from possibly a local paper and magazine circa 1984 which feature the same photograph of a group of forestry workers and forester from Heldon Hill or Monaughty Forest. The magazine image (large photograph) has been cropped slightly and cuts off two of the men (Nos 13 & 22) but shows the clearest detail. The newspaper image was submitted by Mrs Hutcheon of Elgin who has named most of the people but unfortunately the article has not detailed exactly which name belongs to which person. The little girl Elsie Dick and Head Forester J D Robbie are however definitely identified as is Jimmy Grubb by the line in the magazine photograph (large image).

In an attempt to put names to faces, numbers have been added to the photograph image and using the names list at the bottom of the photograph, names put against the numbers. Hopefully someone may be able to confirm if the names are correct and also provide some of the Christian names and a little information on the person. The original photograph or another like it would be very welcome.

There is a strong family likeness between Nos 14 and 21 and perhaps even these have been wrongly named
