Tillypronie Estate after 1953 Gale

Tillypronie Estate staff are working their way along the driveway to the house cutting the trees blocking the way through. Hundreds of trees have been blown and there is a real tangle of branches and stems. In those days with only hand cross cut saws and axes this was difficult and dangerous work as people had to get in very close and under stems to actually cut their way through whilst making sure nothing was going to fall on them from above or trap them against other trees. The team have enlisted the help off the Fordson Major tractor to drag any cut logs out of the way.
